"Why?" is a short spoken word film that challenges the stereotypes placed on ethnic minorities in Britain. It contrasts how ethnic minorities are often perceived by society versus how they see themselves, reclaiming the narrative through personal experiences. The film explores the tension between identity and expectation, rooted in the disconnect between lived reality and the assumptions projected onto us. I wanted to confront the question: What more do ethnic minorities have to do to prove they’re just as British as their white counterparts?
